After Napo, we went deeper into the Amazonia. The weather was overall good, with occasional heavy shower. We found Helicopis cupido and met the lovely Anteros renaldus.
After Pastaza, we moved to Napo. The weather was not very good, but we were lucky enough to find a lovely Ourocnemis boulleti.
Some people asked me how to shoot the slow motion video during my Ecuador trip. Well, behind the charm of slowly flying butterflies, the shooting process looked incredibly stupid.
After Tungurahua, we moved forward to the second area, Pastaza. We went butterflying around Mera and Puyo where altitude was about 1000 to 1200 meters. Due to continuous bad weather, the road condition was very bad. Luckily, we found our main targets Asterope degandii and Agrias amydon, with Asterope leprieuri as the bonus.
Baños de Agua Santa in Tungurahua is the gateway from Andes to Amazon rainforest. This is the first station of the trip. Here, we found one of our main target, Evenus coronata, one of the largest butterfly in the Lycaenidae family.
