It was the second destination and the main part of our Africa trip. The visit was overall fruitful.
In our Feb 2017 tip to Africa, Cameroon was our main interest. However, to make the transit smoother, we chose to stay a few days in Ethiopia.
In March 2017, we went to Nanjing to look for the lovely Luehdorfia chinensis.
At the end of the trip, we returned to the Napo area and revisited some missed spots due to bad weather. With better weather, the mesmerizing butterflies did not let us down.
After Napo, we went deeper into the Amazonia. The weather was overall good, with occasional heavy shower. We found Helicopis cupido and met the lovely Anteros renaldus.
Sulawesi is an island in Indonesia. It is the world’s 11th largest island. There are about 560 known species of butterflies. 239 of them (>40%) are endemic to the region. We visited the place around end September. The weather had been dry since March. It was definitely not the peak season for butterflies. Still, we were able to find quite a number of butterflies.
